Dr. Freddie Kabango is an experienced Agriculturalist with over 35 years of work in soil and water management, sustainable land management, agro-ecology and crop agronomy. His career spans public service, international development, and research leadership, including 10 years at CHAI, where he served as a Principal Investigator on multiple projects focused on sustainable agriculture and climate-resilient food systems. This wide exposure has strengthened his expertise in agricultural extension, project management, capacity building and environmental conservation.

He holds a PhD in Agro-ecology and Food Systems and has worked as an Assistant Commissioner for Soil & Water Conservation at MAAIF, as well as Uganda’s National Focal Point for UNCCD. Freddie has led and supported major national and international research initiatives on soil fertility, land restoration, climate change, irrigation and sustainable agriculture.

He is passionate about promoting sustainable farming systems, improving soil health, supporting climate resilience, and strengthening community livelihoods through practical agricultural solutions.
