James Magezi-Akiiki, BSc, MSc, is the climate change technical advisor for the Climate Change Adaption Innovation (CHAI). James is  a Manager at the Uganda National Meteorological Authority (UNMA) in charge of Networks Operations and serves as the National Focal Point for the Inter-Governmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), as well as the Desk Officer for climate change at UNMA. He has a long track record of leadership and practice in climate change-related actions since the early 1990s, at the national,  regional, and international levels, that include research, environmental impact assessments, state of environment reporting  (SOERs) under UNMA), climate change negotiations, workshops, and seminars.

He is a trained reviewer of National Inventories of Greenhouse Gases and National Communications on Climate Change and has participated in various international reviews of manuscripts. James was recognized by the IPCC for his work which contributed to the award of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize to the IPCC.  James is a keen climate change expert and serves as the National Secretary of the Uganda Meteorological Society.

James graduated from Makerere University with Bachelor of Science majoring in Mathematics and Physics and earned a Master of Science in Meteorology from the University of Nairobi.
