Dr Ian Munabi, MD, MSc, PhD, is the Technical Advisor for health at the Climate Change Adaptation Innovation (CHAI). Ian an accomplished academic, researcher and practitioner on improving health systems, healthcare delivery. He has taught at Makerere University, department of Anatomy for over ten years. He is involved in various aspects of research that include climate change. Climate change is especially important to him given the way it affects human nutrition and growth across generations. The impact of this on childbirth was a core aspect of his doctoral work. He has led the development and publishing of research on various climate-related models and access to information. Ian joined the team to advise on these health-related linkages of climate change and other areas related to his past basic science doctoral level training, and health professional education training experience, from working with small student teams to coordinating various training programs within Makerere University and on other projects.
As a young scientist Ian has contributed to science in the area of Clinical research on various topics that include ethics, Audits of surgical procedures and related success, health systems research and musculosketal disorders in health workers. Ian is a clinically trained anatomist
Dr. Ian Munabi graduated from Makerere university with a degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBchB), and a Masters degree in Human Anatomy. He earned another master’s degree and PhD in Medicine from Makerere University.
