The Transforming Weather Water data into value-added Information services for sustainable Growth in Africa (TWIGA) project aimed to provide unavailable geo-information on weather, and climate for sub-Saharan Africa by enhancing satellite-based geo-data with innovative in-situ sensors and developing related information services that answer needs of African stakeholders and the GEOSS community. The project will not only avail research-based information on weather, water and climate to stakeholder across sectors, including agriculture, energy, water, insurance, and disaster response and management, hence contributing to the fulfillment of Uganda’s vision of becoming a middle-income country, but also provide opportunity for research, capacity building, as well as “North-South” and South-South” collaboration.
